Charles DeAntonio was born in Charleston, South Carolina in 1942.
After working in New York and New Orleans as a stockbroker,
he returned to the Lowcountry in his late twenties and embarked
on the art career he had dreamed of since childhood.
After winning first prize in the 1971 Spring Mills Art Competition,
Charles left the business world altogether and has been
painting full-time ever since.

Among other distinctions Charles has been featured in
Hemispheres,
Southern Accents and Charleston magazines and
has taught at the Gibbes Museum of Art,
while his work can be found in numerous private, corporate
and institutional collections on four continents.

Irrepressible enthusiasm and appreciation for all the beauties of life
are the hallmarks of his character and his art
to the delight of friends and collectors from Bull’s Bay to County Clare.
But perhaps the most eloquent testimony to the inspired life
of the artist can be seen in the determination of
his son
Charles DuPre DeAntonio to follow in his footsteps.
